Cutting weight in my 50s

In 2019 a friend encouraged me to begin running again. He was facing prostate surgery in spring of 2019 and planned to run a 5k in July. It was hard to say no to this challenge - so I began training for the 5k.
Though I successfully finished the 5k in July of 2019, I'd not lost any weight during the months of training. I was consternated and began researching different diets and books...
I came across the Plant Paradox book by Dr. Gundry. I liked how the science of nutrition and digestion was explained in a way that a person who had biology over 35 years ago
I thought the explanations in the book were understandable and based on scientific research. The Plant Paradox asserts that certain plant food we know and love - actually diminish the efficiency of our digestive track - specifically the lower intestine. There were some surprising realizations for me and I knew I'd have to make some sacrifices to try this one - Peanuts, Peanut Butter, and Cashews...Oh My!
